Company Profile

PEL commenced its life as the UK franchisee for ‘Muzak’, the world’s largest mood music supplier. The Muzak Corporation imposed strict audio engineering regimens upon its worldwide network, which established an ethos that set the benchmark for everything that PEL has since undertaken.

It was a simple matter to add public address to the systems that PEL was installing for music broadcast and, because of the comprehensive loudspeaker coverage that was a feature of its systems, PEL became synonymous with excellent quality PA announcements. From PA to Emergency PA and then to voice alarm (VA) was a natural progression. Encouraged by the London District Surveyors Association (LDSA) and The London Fire Brigade, PEL worked with Arup Acoustics to produce the first comprehensive ‘Fire Detection linked Voice Alarm’ specification for the orderly evacuation of multi storey buildings.

The intelligibility of announcements that PEL guarantees for its systems results in highly efficient PA/VA facilities that protect visitors in shopping centres, retail stores, hotels, leisure centres, office blocks and any other location where a high proportion of occupants are not necessarily familiar with the evacuation procedures that apply on site.

PEL acquired Electronic Alarms Limited, a well regarded fire alarm and emergency lighting manufacturer, system installer and servicing company, in 1982 and PGL Security Limited, a NACOSS approved security system installer and maintainer, in 1995. The combination of these associated in-house skills satisfies projects without subcontracting to third parties and provides efficient project management and economy of scale for system packages - sound, fire, security and communications.

Regular customers include Local Authorities, Shopping Centres, Tesco, B & Q, W H Smith, Mothercare, Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, Royal Mail, Zara, Esprit, Shurgard, etc.

PEL Services Limited is profitable (Dun & Bradstreet rates the Company 1A 1) and operates throughout the UK and Eire.
